Pragmatopia Part 1 Project 2018 Jack Sweet Newcastle University | UK Pragmatopia is a speculative proposal for stitching together three disparate, poorly connected areas of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The aim is deliberately utopian, while the exe¬cution and construction is deliberately standardised, making use of a wide palette of ‘off-the-shelf’ materials. In doing so Pragmatopia highlights the contradictory nature of architectural practice – caught between social ambition and business reality – critiquing an industry increasingly motivated by relent¬less economic logic.
