Mie University Tsu City | Japan
The work mainly constitutes a new trial on campus planning and architecture in Japan. By transferring the closure campus to the central station area, we create a new relationship between city and campus, accomplishing the aims of both to seek a new location for the university campus and contribute to revitalize the city. The process of development on this project can be resumed in: 1.Analyze the characteristics of the central city area 2. Try to establish correspondence between each faculty and its proposed location at the city, for instance, relocate the faculty of humanity on the proximities of a historic street, etc. 3. Propose the square and main street as the face for both the city and this university. 4. Design such a campus taking in consideration the diversity of lifestyles among scholars, students and citizens, and creating the possibilities of exchange places between them.

Many Japanese regional cities expand the urban area to suburbs generating, thus, the problem of an urban center decline. As any other public facilities, private facilities and houses, the amount of universities that had been located at an urban center has increased to suburban areas. This movement is because recently got to require a wider site without loosing an educational research environment.

In this work the university - located Tsu City - is repositioned on the proximities of Tsu Station, which is the main station in Tsu City. Then, an integrated work of both the university campus and Tsu Station's surroundings provides the main task in this project, making possible the revival of the urban center's area in the city: "University City". The major spaces such as campus area, station, plazas around the station, and the main streets are arranged where they could fit the most, according to their function. Besides, an urban design fit is developed overall with a pedestrian's space having it as a continuation of the city frame. We expect through this project that the city would be able to facilitate the exchange between citizens of the university staff and the university students, and to be understood as a "University city".
