SUMMARY

SUBJECT: hotel*** and convention center
International level

Location: east bank of the Bio-Bio river, Concepción, Chile
Built area: 12810 m2
Total area: 2887 m2
Number of rooms: 216

All places express memories and feelings, and here we have tried to interpret the place, based on the natural context, the influence of the BioBio River and the hills around.
As a starting point we have taken the idea of a sailboat, like the ones we can find on the river bank, because these kind of boats form a part of the daily cultural landscape of the place.
Convinced of the idea that different internal functions need to be distinguished on the outside, we have separated the hotel in three groups: public areas, convention center and rooms area. The first and second ones are placed in the basement and the last one is placed in two towers with panoramic views of the context.
The relation with the town square was also another starting point, since it takes part in an urban edge that will be constructed in the future.
The building pretends to be a landmark in the city; perceptible from a different point of it, growing as a symbol distinguishable right from the bridge that crosses the BioBio river, which acts as the principal acces to Concepción city.

MEMORIA DESCRIPTIVA
