Cultivating the Creative Cluster: Towards a new socio-economic policy for an inclusive creative city

Part 2 Project 2016

This thesis critiques the commercialisation of the creative industries, proposing a solution to the demand for low-cost studio space. Forgotten sites within Nottingham's Lace Market will be activated by an urban strategy using low-cost architectural interventions based around a single timber joint.
The architectural proposal develops in a series of phases, cultivated by the requirements of Nottingham's Creative Industries, becoming a permanent solution to the socio-economic demands of that community.
