Part 2 Project 2017

Southampton, like many UK cities, struggles with an increasingly diverse population. New economic migrants live in segregated neighbourhoods, divided by nationality. Disregarded medieval ruins at the Watergate Tower offer an opportunity to create a new cultural centre: common ground for this fractured population. Through the design of a new public space and language school, integration and conversation is encouraged whilst also providing a framework for debate within local community.
