On the Anthropological Co-Habitation of a Data Centre

Part 1 Project 2017

The physical manifestation of our ever-growing hunger for digital information is the data centre - a rapidly emerging form of autonomous, insular architectural typology. The Outer Hebrides provides perfect isolation for such infrastructure, yet shows social problems of its own, with an ageing population. By co-inhabiting the data centre with a framework for digital fabrication, it becomes a creative destination, providing incentive for young people to stay in the Highlands.
