Reconstructing a Memory of Guernica

Part 2 Dissertation 2016
William Mondejar
University of Brighton UK
This study reveals what lies hidden behind the façades of Guernica, a village of symbolic significance in Spanish history that lives in the shadow of Picasso’s eponymous painting. It seeks to reconstruct a memory of Guernica before the tragic events of 1937 through a collection of historic objects, with a view to staging an exhibition in Guernica on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the tragedy next year.
