The Judging Panels will select up to 20 projects who will receive awards at the presentation ceremony in December. Medals will be awarded to 3 students - the Bronze Medal for Part 1; the Silver Medal for Part 2 and the Dissertation Medal. In addition, there will be a maximum of 3 commendations each, including any special commendations, for Part 1, Part 2, and Dissertation. In the case of group work, a joint award will be made and if a medal is awarded this will be shared. The Judging Panel and the President's Medals sponsors will also select some of the awards listed below:

The Bronze Medal for the Best Design Project at Part 1

The Silver Medal for the Best Design Project at Part 2

and up to three commendations

The Dissertation Medal for the Best Dissertation either at Part 1 or 2

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) have extended their sponsorship of the awards to include a series of visits to industrial materials centres as well as honorary membership of the IOM3 to the medallists and commendation winners and their tutors in the Bronze Medal/Part 1 and Silver Medal/Part 2 categories.
