In recent history, hidden heritage has emerged as a topic of interest, especially in the field of architecture. The aim of this research is to uncover hidden heritage values that emerge through an organic preservation process in heritage buildings inhabited by traditional residents of Sonsón, and then connect these values to the town’s tourism offerings. The research question is as follows:

What values can foster a critical understanding of tourism within the framework of hidden heritage in Sonsón, based on the daily interactions between people and historic architecture? In this context, hidden heritage values are those that demonstrate an appropriation of the property by its inhabitants.

The research question is addressed through a detailed study of a series of real case studies, which involved conducting interviews with the residents, taking photographic records of the interior and exterior of each house, and using checklists to confirm the relevance of the properties to the research. The results, following individual analyses, identified 7 hidden values, such as evidence of the trades, habits, and customs of the house’s inhabitants.

Finally, through a dissemination tool presented to the Sonsón community, I was able to connect the case studies to the local tourism network via a heritage tourism route.
