We also experience a city when we see it depicted and wonder if that image resembles the city we know. As a native of Lima and a film buff, I became curious about how Lima appeared in movies and what place we women occupied within them.

This study analyzes the representation of women's daily lives in Lima through three contemporary Peruvian films: La teta asustada (2009), Rosa Chumbe (2015), and Soltera codiciada (2018).

The methodology began with a detailed observation of the films. In each case, I coded the frames and organized them into an analytical framework that allowed me to identify percentages, patterns, and spatial relationships. Based on this data, I translated the films' visual language into urban categories, identifying activities, types of space, times of day, routes, and locations, which were then represented in maps, diagrams, and comparative graphs.

The analysis reveals three filmed cities that barely overlap, each shaped by a different protagonist. Fausta inhabits a periphery marked by precariousness, distance, and family care; Rosa navigates a nocturnal city center where work, exhaustion, and street life overlap; and María Fe moves through a coastal strip associated with consumption, creative work, and social pressure. The comparison shows how gender, class, and territory shape access to the city, mobility, personal time, and forms of autonomy.
