Fragmented Reciprocity - Nurturing the Bloom Part 1 Dissertation 2026 Ashutosh Chowhan Coventry University | UK This dissertation began with a simple, unanswered question: What kind of architect do I want to become? The answer arrived unexpectedly during a year-out placement documenting houseboats on Dal Lake, Srinagar. What I thought would be routine documentation became a revelation: the lake is not scenery or a resource to be managed; it is a living partner. For generations, the Hanji community has built, farmed, rowed, and moved with the lake’s currents, weeds, and seasons. They do not control the lake — they belong to it, and it belongs to them. That experience taught me that the most meaningful architecture is not about imposing form on a place, but about listening and corresponding with it. That’s the kind of architect I now want to become. Tutor(s) Ed Frith Stephen Limbrick John Prevc
