At the Valley’s Edge, explores Zahle — my hometown in Lebanon — as a palimpsest of memory, identity, and urban fracture. Through the lens of architectural hermeneutics, the thesis interprets the city not merely as a physical construct, but as a living narrative shaped by its people, rituals, and silences. It investigates the disintegration of Zahle’s intangible heritage—its poetry, spiritual traditions, and communal rituals—and seeks to translate this cultural erosion into a spatial language of recovery.

By reviving Zahle’s poetic and spiritual essence through a constellation of urban acupuncture points, the project positions architecture as both interpreter and author of cultural memory. It proposes a methodology where design is no longer just the act of building, but the craft of reading and re-writing place. In a time when heritage is either frozen or forgotten, The Neighbour’s Chronicle offers a third path—where memory is made walkable, and meaning becomes a space one can inhabit.
