Senses in Harmony Part 1 Project 2025 Fabiana-Maria Stan Ravensbourne University London | UK “Senses in Harmony” proposes sensory-rich living environments for individuals affected by sight loss and loneliness, with a strong focus on accessibility, inclusivity, and emotional wellbeing. Set in Croydon, the project responds to the displacement of elderly residents caused by urban redevelopment, offering a space for reconnection and independence. With a focus to support older adults, particularly those experiencing sudden sight loss, health challenges, or loneliness, by fostering community-driven spaces that welcome people of all abilities. Though sight loss is central to the proposal, it is highlighted that residency is not limited to those with visual impairments. The spatial arrangement encourages interaction through tactile, olfactory, and auditory experiences, guiding residents through their environment while reinforcing a sense of safety and belonging. The proposal includes four flats and six duplexes, each dwelling being conceived with adaptability in mind, empowering residents to modify their living arrangements to suit evolving needs; whether for families, individuals, or couples.“Senses in Harmony” envisions a vibrant, inclusive environment where aging is embraced and connection is nurtured.
