The idea of the concept is to seek through the travel, wich is initiated when the visitor enters to the island and begins to be the main character of the different spaces through a pedestrian road that offers differents perceptions of the imposing virgin landscape, and the provocative curves of the building, embracing and culminating in the main space.
The shape symbolizes the metaphor of the movement that a waterdrop produces when this falls on a water mirror. The volume responds to those waves effects and is elevated like the lighthouse of the reservoire, containings the water in dikes that avoid the natural lake fluctuation.

In this Thesis Workshop, it is propose an intellectual essay of concepts that integrate sustainable architecture with constitutive objects form. This integration is proposed by a planning process with different categories of space shaping from enviromental sensibility point of view.
Reserch, investigation and analysis, of national and international theaters and alternative spaces was a very important contribution to the creation of a unique place adaptable to several uses, where the most important was to develop many diferent experimental performance options.
The project by Alvarez, Decurgez and Mateo, fulfill the objectives presented and at the same time achieve architectural sites with creativity.

2007
THE IDEA: WATER DROP METAPHOR The movement that a drop produces when it falls on water mirror.
The volume responds to those waves. It is elevated like the lighthouse of the reservoir, containing the water in dikes that avoid the reservoir`s fluctuation leaves empty its coast.
Situation Plan Potrerillo’s Reservoir. Located in Los Andes mountians range, to 65 kilometers west of Mendoza City. Water Fluctuation.
Mountain landscape Fluctuation status of the reservoir. Maximum water level on summer (1380 meters above sea level). Minimum water level on winter (1340 meters above sea level). Isle where the building has been proyected.
Water Culture: City with passed regional people, spanish contribution and the foreign immigrant. The building maintains the the water in its interior and outside in form of irrigation ditch and dikes.
Main entrance level +-0.00 Workshop’s level +5.60 Performer’s level +9.60 Basement level -13.50 The public enters to a hall and there they can go up or down, through ramps to the main space and outdoor theater.

Northwest elevation: The building rises as icon of the place, its curved forms follows the movement of the waves lake, the public spaces exteriors and interiors prioritize the views towards the natural landscape.

Theatre café-bar
Access to main room Architecture of Luminosity and contemplation. The way in which the building is related to its natural surroundings is as important as the way in which it does towards its interior.
Use 1: Standard option. Heptagonal structure designed to avoid parallel walls that generate echo effects. In the photo: the main window acting like the scene frame.
Use 2: Experimental performance options. Interaction between audience and performers. Many possibilities of stage appearences, from above, from the sides and from bellow.
