Library of Things – The Woven Wild

Part 1 Project 2025

This project took a biophilic approach attempting to tackle the deep-rooted issues on a site in Wolverhampton on the grounds of the St George's Church. A site that had been abandoned by both nature and community. This concept aims to revive these aspects through providing an organic experience on site that enhances the human connection to nature.

Inspired by a specific tree found on the site, natural elements were translated directly into architectural features: the bark informed the façade, branches shaped the roof, and roots guided the layout of the pathways, mimicking natural processes to create an architecture. Each design decision links back to the concept of connecting people to nature through architecture. This follows through to the very end of the life cycle for this building where it is turned into a mountain bothie to be used by the community in nature.
