A Coalescence of Ghosts: Tales of Abandonment, Decay and Conservation across the Dorset Landscape Part 2 Project 2021 Robert PrattKira BennettAdam Radwanski Arts University Bournemouth | UK An interwoven tale of three places, set within a single landscape. A collection of journeys deep into Dorset’s rich natural and geographical histories. Observations of abandonment, decay and destruction leaving nothing but ghosts and ever fading memory. The Blue Pool; an abandoned clay mine. The Decoy House; removed under uncertain circumstances. Holes Bay; A wetland landscape existing in constant tension with the encroaching growth of the town of Poole.A pilgrimage from West to East, carrying messages of environmental decline. To save Holes Bay from suffering a similar fate. Three projects. Three perspectives. Three moments in time. In coalescence; As one collective vision. Shining a light on the Dorset landscape, telling the tale of the damage that has been left behind. But its not too late. The ghosts now gather within Holes Bay. There is much work to be done. Restoring our human relationship with nature and place. This project is alive. The story continues. Working now with local communities on this journey. With an awareness of the ecological issues of our time, we root ourselves deeper into our rich natural context, bringing nature into the heart of communities and establishing a network of conservation projects across the Dorset landscape.
