Skene: A community stage for Tavros Part 2 Project 2025 Daria Serhiienko London Metropolitan University | UK In a world marked by conflict, climate collapse, and social disconnection, this project asks: what can architecture become when it refuses neutrality?“SKĒNĒ” begins with a ruin - an abandoned concrete frame in Tavros, Athens - and reclaims it as a participatory theatre and community space shaped by stories of displacement, resistance, and care.Rooted in my own experience of war and migration, the project unfolds through collaborative workshops with children, educators, and artists. Storytelling, improvisation, and making become tools for co-creating space. Through these processes, architecture transforms from fixed form into evolving dialogue.Using reclaimed materials and preserving the site’s existing trees, the design responds to its environment and community. Spaces emerge as prototypes shaped by local narratives: a tunnel, a forest, a table, a stage. The existing concrete frame is treated as a partner - framing rather than dictating new interventions.“SKĒNĒ” is not static. It invites participation and change.
