Memento Mori – The Ritualised Body & The Elements Part 2 Project 2018 Chris McAvoy Ulster University | UK Memento Mori explores the relationship between architecture, the human body and the ritual experience of death. Challenging the cultural norms of traditional burial and cremation within Northern Ireland, the City Promotorium offers an alternative funerary experience that is more environmentally sustainable. Drawing reference from ancient funerary rituals, the building acts as a ceremonial route through its surrounding natural landscape, presenting the body to the elements of Earth, Water & Sky.
