Expanding Horizons Part 1 Project 2020 Jia Yunn Kok Queen's University Belfast | UK This project is situated in Portrush and aims to design spaces for stillness, recovery, and well-being, with the intention to take individuals away from the scene of their trauma to a place which provides a healing experience.New approaches were taken to discover relationships between architecture, environment, and landscape to reconnect patients with their surroundings. The project aims to create architecture which is constantly changing and adapting to its surroundings, by utilizing the surrounding nature and involving participation from its inhabitants.The program allows for visitors to partake and understand the process of seaweed harvesting and its various uses, while addressing the issue of climate change of rising sea-levels. The lower level consists of a seaweed farm which visitors can only access during low tide, as it will be completely submerged during the periods of high tide for the seaweed to grow and promote biodiversity within the shores.
