The Tung Chung Public Development Pier in Hong Kong provides an opportunity to create a transformative architectural space. My design concept aims to embrace the natural beauty of the water while meeting the demand for water sports and leisure activities. By integrating floating, modular, and transformable structures, the project allows for customization and adaptability to diverse weather conditions and business needs. Floating architecture offers a sustainable solution to Hong Kong's land scarcity, creating additional usable space without land reclamation. The project's theme revolves around water sports and tea-drinking. The floating transformation mechanism creates four additional water spaces for activities like kayaking, SUP, swimming, and fishing. The adjustable facade system offers varying levels of privacy before and after the transformation. The project features nine islands, providing two major spatial experiences before and after the transformation. Before the transformation, spatial experience is alley and center courtyard, and after, it becomes water courtyards between floating houses. The transformation ensures user comfort and safety in any weather. This prototype of transformable floating architecture promotes community engagement, creates usable space near the waterfront, and fosters a harmonious relationship with nature.
