Open Studio: A studio that interrogates rather than imposes. Open because students are free to select their topic and project within an agenda. Students are encouraged to develop their theoretical framework through which they will explore the agenda. Open in the sense of: in operation, ready to use, public, not restricted, willing to receive and most importantly willing to consider new ideas.3. Africa: The agenda of the studio. Taking risks, working outside comfort zone, and applying knowledge to places you know little about enables us to put into practice our knowledge and help people in need rather than being at the disposal of clients and developers who commission us to design projects with questionable intentions.DESIGN = PURPOSE X PROBLEMThis formula embodies how the Studio thinks. We understand design as a creative vehicle to solve problems through purpose. Our goal is to help people use design to make change through purpose.
