Intertwined Ecologies Part 1 Project 2025 Hannah Danny Manipal Academy of Higher Education - Dubai campus Dubai UAE Intertwining Ecologies explores how architecture can move beyond the human, becoming part of a living, breathing ecosystem. Set in the mangrove landscape of Al Zorah, Ajman, the project proposes a Centre for Ecological Education and Research, addressing the urgent need for environmental education in the UAE and wider MENA region, where fewer than five of221 environmental programs focus on ecology (AFED, 2019).Comprising three interlinked components - an Ecological Research Institute, a Visitor Centre, and a Biodiversity Park – the proposal functions as a centralized hub for learning, conservation, and public engagement. It seeks to reframe architecture not as a human-centric intervention, but as a facilitator of multispecies cohabitation. The design uses elevated walkways to tread lightly on the land, natural materials rooted in context, and sheltering canopies that serve both people and local wildlife. In doing so, it explores how built form can become part of a living ecosystem - offering space for curiosity, coexistence, and care. Tutor(s) Dipti Shukla
