The Living Grid is a forward-thinking response to Hong Kong’s housing crisis, where extreme density and limited land have led to inadequate living conditions for many. Located on the edge of Victoria Harbour in West Kowloon, the project reimagines urban development as a dynamic, community-focused ecosystem.

This mixed-use proposal integrates housing with essential daily services such as cafes, healthcare, childcare, and retail within a walkable, wellness-oriented environment. Sustainability is embedded through modular construction, using prefabricated units to minimise waste and accelerate delivery.

A key design aim is to create a system that grows over time adaptive rather than static through plug-in method. The Living Grid is both climate- and user-responsive, allowing spaces to evolve with changing needs. Communal gardens support food production and are monetised at the podium level, promoting shared economic and environmental value.

Ultimately, the project challenges conventional development models by proposing a living, evolving framework that prioritises health, well-being, flexibility, and connection. It is both a critique of existing urban conditions and a hopeful vision for a more resilient, equitable future.
