Newhaven Station

Part 2 Project 2025

Communities once built on industrial infrastructure are now feeling a disconnect from their core identity. In the South East sits a small town called Newhaven, home to just 12,000 residents. How might we re-imagine the industrial zones of Newhaven to re-build its identity?

By re-purposing and re-inventing the East Quay industrial site in Newhaven, the site becomes a model plan for industrial and community to co-exist once again. All whilst taking responsibility for our material usage in construction. In creating a more pedestrianised industrial space, we bring a deeper awareness to industrial processes and our engagement with materials; hoping to express an importance to re-use and limit our consumption.

Newhaven Station utilises the existing railway line to move materials to and from the factory that prepares materials for re- use. It provides an invisible barrier between public and production whilst still revealing the process of materials re-use. This project becomes a space for education and re-builds communities by creating economic and social growth.
