The RIBA President’s Medals are presented in the following
categories:
RIBA Dissertation Medal
Awarded annually to the best dissertation produced by a student or group of
students as part of a RIBA Part I or Part II qualification, or an equivalent
programme at a higher education institution not validated by the RIBA. The
judging panel may also award up to five commendations in this category.
RIBA Bronze Medal
Awarded annually to the best design project produced by a student or group of
students as part of a RIBA Part I qualification, or its equivalent at a
non-RIBA validated institution. Up to five commendations may also be awarded at
the panel’s discretion.
RIBA Silver Medal
Awarded annually to the best design project produced by a student or group of
students as part of a RIBA Part II qualification, or its equivalent at a
non-RIBA validated institution. The judging panel may also recognise up to five
commendations.
In addition to selecting medal recipients, the judging panels for the Bronze
and Silver Medals are responsible for awarding the Serjeant Awards for
Excellence in Architectural Drawing and the RIBA Awards for
Sustainable Design, at both Part I and Part II levels.
